By Memo - Class of 76 On June 8-12, 2006, the class of 1976 celebrated their 30-year reunion on a four-day Caribbean cruise to Cozumel, Mexico. It was a memorable and fun event enjoyed by all. The dancing, dining and on-ship casino experience aboard the Carnival Ecstasy fun ship was filled with excitement, laughter and camaraderie.
Las Vegas-style entertainment and late night comedy shows were a favorite among the group. The highlight of the cruise was the Friday night's Captain's Ball with its excellent dining, cocktails and group photo opportunities. The gentlemen, dressed in their black tuxedos, and the beautifully-dressed ladies posed for glamourous photos that will serve as a longtime reminder of this memorable reunion event. The destination point of Cozumel, Mexico offered shopping as well as dancing at a local establishment along the beach. A snorkeling expedition was enjoyed by some, while others decided to just relax on the beach. In the afternoon it was time to board ship and sail back to Galveston, Texas, our departure port. With the end of the cruise approaching, the group joined together for prize drawings. Anna was the lucky winner of the grand monetary prize. Yours truly came out a winner too; the tortilla warmer works like a charm! It's one of those things we tend to say, "why didn't I get one of these before?" At our farewell meeting each had an opportunity to talk about ourselves, our families, and the path we took in life after our High School graduation. It was a touching moment for all of us, and we concluded with a group prayer, asking for guidance and a safe return to our homes. After four days of fun, friendship, and adventure, phone numbers and addresses were exchanged, as well as warm hugs, handshakes and farewells. The Class of 1976 and their families returned safely home, but not without a promise to do this again in the not too distant future.........Did someone say Europe????? |
